We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced and culturally fluent Technical Program Lead, to drive the delivery of high-quality software solutions from our Sweden-based team to our counterparts in China.
In this role, you will lead a Swedish development team, ensuring agile excellence, code quality, and delivery consistency, while also acting as a bridge between Western engineering practices and the expectations, timelines, and collaboration styles of a Chinese software organization.
You will ensure that both sides are aligned in scope, communication, and delivery expectations.
The software team consists of 5-7 developers with different skill sets.
You will work within the Technology & Innovation departmet, a cross-functional team where interdisciplinary focus, curiosity and drive are highly valued.
We work in close collaboration with all other design departments shaping the mobility experience of the future.
We are looking for a Technical Program Lead with the following qualifications:
• Proven experience leading software development teams (2+
years), ideally in a multicultural or multinational environment.
• Solid technical background with hands-on experience in modern
software development
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with
demonstrated ability to work across cultures and time zones.
• Experience coordinating with Chinese companies or teams —
strong understanding of Chinese business culture and
expectations is essential.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin is required.
• Experience delivering projects in Agile or hybrid environments.
• Skilled in stakeholder communication, requirement clarification,
and delivery reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related
field. The selected Technical Program Lead will be responsible for
• System Discovery – Investigate existing software environments
and help knowledge transfer with relevant team members,
especially those less experienced with Android developments.
• Team Leadership – Share experience and guidance with
developers, built upon system processes and maintain quality
standards, through active day-to-day engagement with
developers.
• Team Planning – Develop project plans, including scope,
timelines, and resource allocation.
• Scope Management – Define and control project scope to prevent
scope creep.
• Resource Management – Allocate and manage resources
effectively.
• Time Management – Create and maintain project schedules,
ensuring timely delivery of milestones.
• Budget Management – Develop and monitor the project budget,
keeping costs under control.
• Quality Management – Ensure deliverables meet required quality
standards through testing and quality assurance. Develop,
implement and monitor relevant software test systems.
• Risk Management – Identify and mitigate project risks, preparing
contingency plans.
• Stakeholder Management – Act as the primary communication
channel between the Swedish engineering team and Chinese
stakeholders — translating technical and business needs clearly
in both directions.
• Team Management – Lead, motivate, and support the project
team, resolving conflicts and fostering collaboration. Conduct
daily check-ins and standup meetings to monitor progress and
address issues promptly.
• Change Management – Manage changes to project scope,
schedule, and resources, ensuring proper documentation and
approval.
• Documentation and Reporting – Maintain project documentation
and prepare status reports for stakeholders.
• Post-Project Evaluation – Conduct reviews to identify lessons
learned and ensure proper project closure. Personal attributes

• The assignment will take place in our studio in Gothenburg and we
have an ‘office first’ environment with some flexibility to WFH
• Travel to China may be needed (approx. 3-5 trips per year).
